Hey all, or anyone who can be bothered to read this!
I finally had some time to myself to do nothing for a few hours, so instead of working of course, I decided to try out this new fangled blog thingy! I do apologise if you read this blog and then at the end discover that I have not really made a point and rambled as usual (in my usual awful grammar too may i add)!
So here we go... I thought id start off with a little bit about my life at the mo... for some reason it seems more hectic than ever before, and even though i do miss my sleep sometimes, i feel slightly productive for a change most days and I'm having an enjoyable time which I do believe is the point of the uni experience some may say!
Im studying Biomedical Science and am in 2nd year, harder than the first but doing surprisingly well :D I dont know if its what i want to do in life just yet but its a good start as i do find certain aspects to it rather fascinating and love learning about anything i can! If i really followed my dreams i would just work as a chocolate taster....mmm one day!
AND now im OLD!!! I turned 20 last weekend. Had a brilliant weekend but thats going to be a whole other post to itself - wow!
Mainly what im going to tell you now is a story that I wanted to write down... An adventure that changed my life!!
... Well not exactly, but it was certainly an adventure and one of the most surreal nights i've ever experienced!
And it did make me think and stuff so i wanted to share it, and apparently thats what this Vox thing is for hehe!
(Get settled its going to be a looooong read!)
Sooooo background story, my lovely friend Holly took me to a Paramore concert in Birmingham as my birthday present. We also took my fellow Welsh housemate, Wenglish, and Holly's co-head of music, Kate.
So as I don't leave Keele Campus very often this was a very exciting trip and all of us are mad about Paramore. It was a fantastic concert, I am fast becoming a big fan of Birmingham city centre and the Birmingham Academy is a very cool place!
So after enjoying a ROCKING evening (if you know me, you will know I cannot pull off being rock/emo) we battled the car park to find Holly's little red mini, her pride and joy - infact her baby 'Brum'.
As we pulled onto the M6 to head back to Stoke i turn to Wenglish in the back of the car and say 'mm the car is a bit noisy, is this a funny road or something?' - or along that lines you understand i dont have a completely accurate memory.
No it wasn't something wrong with the road of course, that was me being very naiive. The noise gets louder, so we turn up the music - bad idea to ignore it. Kate suggests it might just be the hubcap coming loose so we tell Holly to keep driving - another bad idea had by all!
Finally the noise gets so loud that we are all rather scared and Holly is forced to pull over onto the hard shoulder.
We all clamber out of the car being careful not to get run over and discover the tyre has not only become flat but has pretty much torn into shreds! Helpful!
The picture of an hour later is 4 girls layered up in hoodies in the rain and dark (did i mention this is midnight now) while trucks drive past at 70mph, surprisingly having fun, dancing to keep warm, which wasn't working, my feet were numb.
I shall skip a bit of the story and say that we were rescued by a wonderful recovery man named Scott! However he discovered that the 'fabulous' car makers that are BMW do not fit spare tyres in their new cars, so yet again we were stuck!
Back in the recovery base in Birmingham we bonded while waiting for someone to come and tow us back to Stoke, while Scott went out on another job involving exciting police business! Who knew the life of a recovery man was so interesting!?!
At the end of this story, we were towed back to Stoke and arrived at 5am! I think its fairly obvious to say i was rather tired!
Anyway now you all know the story, a few points that this night made me think about:
I have fantastic friends who made the experience calm and funny!
Even braking down on the motorway and being stuck with strangers isnt so scary after all - maybe i am growing up!
Life carries on after we all usually go to bed, people are doing jobs at 3am! Crazy!
Recovery men have rather exciting jobs - thanx to Scott for saving us!
Having a surreal adventure can allow you to meet lots of strangers willing to help (i know it was their job but they were ever so kind!)
Also being a group of 20 year old girls gives you advantages in some situations!
And my final point - everyone needs the odd random adventure in their life! Enjoy them!
Ok so that about does me for tonight, terribly sorry for the rambling!
Have a good night! x x x

on First Post...Finally...But do I have a point?!
